Nimo (aka Naima Ibrahim) – a self-proclaimed child of East Africa – who runs pop-up dining experiences in Sydney, sits down with her Nigerian friend Ade to reminisce about how Eid is celebrated across East and West Africa. Her favourite dish is Mahamri, a puffed deep-fried pastry, which can be eaten sweet or savoury, and is a staple in the cuisine of many African countries, throughout Ramadan and Eid especially. She shares her grandmother's recipe, which features coconut milk and cardamom, the use of which speaks to how the spice has travelled across borders from Asia to Africa and beyond.
