
An English musician, producer, composer, entrepreneur and teacher, Thomas Dolby was born as Thomas Morgan Robertson. He became famous for his hit singles “She Blinded Me with Science” (1982) and “Hyperactive!” (1984). He has also collaborated with other artists as a producer and session musician. In the 1990s, he created Beatnik, a software company in Silicon Valley that developed technology for internet audio and ringtones, such as the Nokia tune. Dolby is now a faculty member at the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University, where he heads the Music for New Media program. He started teaching his first students in 2018.
