NOTE 12/14/24: This remaster and video are posted with the blessing of Teri Norton, who was the singer of Whale. Thank you Teri!
I had a conversation with Teri Norton, who was the singer of this album, about a year ago. She was stunned to find out that copies of this album go for over $100 these days!
She also gave me a little backstory on the album:
- "All Keyed Up!" was recorded at the Idle Hour Lounge in Marathon FL (which no longer exists), and at the home of Freddy Bye (who both produced this album and performed on it) onto a 4-track TEAC tape reel
- Whale had been called Night Moves until Freddy’s wife Darlene (who played bass in the band) died in a plane crash. The band went back to the name Whale and recorded the album in her honor.
Teri didn’t give me a number as to how many copies were pressed, but did say she still had several copies. She is still a musician in the Marathon FL area.
