However, retired two-time Super Bowl champion Torrey Smith vocalised his support for the decision.
Smith addressed the topic on X, recalling how he’d been asked if he’d allow boys to cheer in the youth football program he recently started in West Baltimore. “If he wants to cheer, let him cheer,” Smith wrote. When challenged, he doubled down: “It matters to me… No MF he is just on the team. He ain’t bothering anyone.”
Smith, who won Super Bowls with the Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles, also led the league amongst receivers with a minimum number of catches in yards per catch in 2015 while with the San Francisco 49ers.
