The original story of how Slipknot formed was assumed to be set in stone from the beginning. It has long been accepted that the founding members of Slipknot were Shawn Crahan, otherwise known as Clown, Bass player Paul Gray, vocalist Anders Colsefni and Joey Jordison on drums.
This has been documented on many occasions. Even a Rolling Stone article published at the time of his death quite clearly refers to him as a founding member. Then in February, 2024, Shawn Crahan went on record to state that Jordison was never a founding member of the group.
