In this first video of the year, we take on a fallen tree, turning it into a supply of firewood to keep us warm through the winter. While searching for the tree, Philippe has an encounter with a pack of wild boar. Although he didn’t actually see them, he could clearly hear the rustling of the pack in the forest. To give you an idea of the wildlife roaming around our property, we’ll show you some nighttime footage captured by our trail camera. Once the tree is located, Philippe and my father get to work chopping, splitting, and stacking the wood, making the most of sunny winter days. It’s also the perfect time to test the new chainsaw Philippe bought: a Stihl MS500i. A few days later, my dad heads home, and as the weather takes a turn, we shift indoors for some holiday joy, decorating our Christmas tree to close out the season. It all starts with a bit of chaos: Odin learning that decorations can break when they fall, and my Christmas lights deciding they’d had their best days—complete with a broken cable. But Philippe comes to the rescue, fixing the lights and saving our Christmas, haha. This week is a blend of productivity and celebration—just right for kicking off the new year soon.
