I show the process of cutting off the flawed end, making a tick mark for the first rise, using a square to line up the stringer, and accounting for the thickness of the decking material. I also demonstrate the use of a hypotenuse jig to ensure consistent riser heights. The key is to work within set boundaries and use the square as much as possible to keep the lines honest. I emphasize the importance of dry-fitting the first stringer before tracing it to make the rest, to ensure consistency.
