Description:

In this video we'll have a look on Germany exclaves in Belgium. I'm sure you didn't heared about them.
In fact the entire situation is very strange as part of western german territory is crossed by a former railway that is actually belgium territory, cutting this way some parts of Germany.
Thanks to the Schengen area, this is not a problem as people from that exclaves can easily travel into the rest of Germany and back home. But how did this happened?
You\ll have to watch the video in order to find out, so make sure you don't miss it.
Feel free to write your opinion about this in the commnets.
Hope you'll enjoy the video!

These 5 territories are actually German exclaves in Belgium! But how?
Everybody know that this one here is the border between Germany and Belgium, but I’m sure not many of you know that this 1 meter wide bicycle path crossing through Germany is actually Belgium territory.
This is The Vennbahn, which was once a railway track. It started at the German town of Aachen and ended in Troisvierges in northern Luxembourg.
The construction of the railway started in 1882 when this area was part of the newly unified German State.
After Germany’s defeat in the First World War, Germany was required to give away vast swaths of land to other European nations, the territories which the Vennbahn passed being ceded to Belgium. As the railway was essential for connecting the east regions of Belgium, the line also became Belgium’s property.
This way, these 5 German territories became exclaves in Belgium.
The track was operated until 2000s when it was transformed in a 125-km-long bicycling path.
