Q&A with Day Dot:
🗣️ How long have you been collecting and mixing for?
I've been collecting for a long time, but since starting to DJ this time last year, my approach has become a lot more intricate. Having access to a set-up and wonderful DJ mates to teach me has been a privilege.
🗣️ What sparked your interest in digging/collecting?
It began with my parents' stories about their favorite tracks and the places they discovered them. My interest continues to be fueled by the Leeds DIY scene and passionate, geeky friends ;)
🗣️ Where do you find your music?
Bandcamp, Discogs, YouTube, NTS mixes. Any record shop worth a nosey, especially when in new places and abroad.
🗣️ Any label/artist/collective recommendations for someone to start digging?
Mr Bongo, System Music, Pressure Sounds, Afrodisa Records. Basic Channel and Peace Division. The soundtrack from Steve McQueen's Small Axe series did a lot for me.
🗣️ Is there anyone that you take inspiration from? If so, who and why?
Roy Radiant aka Elliot Rea. Wildly talented with a rich and ever-evolving sound. I've learned a great deal from him and never fail to feel uplifted and empowered in his presence :)))
