genre: art pop, minimal wave/new wave
year: 1984
label: self-released (PX-2864)
Ichi no Hana was a band of many names consisting of Etsuko Yamamoto, Makoto Kahara, Norio Takemura, Toshikatsu Ota (T. O'ta) and Yuuya Shinmi. this is their only self-released tape, with the rest of their work landing on the famous DD. Records owned by Tadashi Kamada. the rest of their work is still lost, but you can assume that they were minimal new wave just like this one. very cute, charming and quirky sounding stuff with at times very ethereal soundscapes. this one is a pretty obscure rarity. recorded on to Sony HF-S46 Type I normal bias tape with stamped labels. the tape came in a stapled bag with a flyer insert with info on the album.
i do not know why the A-side is more muffled on the left channel than the right while the B-side has no problems with this, maybe i'll find out why that is some day.
this is where i'd tell you to support the artists but you literally can't. just enjoy the music, that's as much as we can do :')
