
He was back for just a handful of gigs. The tour opened on 9 September in Phoenix, Arizona and less than a week later, closed in Mobile, Alabama on 14 September.
Elvis’s return to the road was a very different Elvis to the rock’n’roller of the 1950s. Gone were his regular band, guitarist Scotty Moore, bass player Bill Black and drummer D.J. Fontana.
This time some of his new Las Vegas musicians were with him, including guitarist James Burton and drummer Ronnie Tutt. Although, most of the band were pick-up musicians
