Why Robotnik Needs to Return in Sonic 4? If Robotnik is still alive, it opens the door for one particular character to make her big-screen debut—Belle the Tinkerer. Sonic 3 already laid the groundwork for her introduction, as one of its core themes was family bonds. Given that, it would make perfect sense for Robotnik to attempt creating his own version of family in the next film, much like Gerald Robotnik did before him. In the IDW Sonic comics, Belle was designed by Dr. Eggman’s kind-hearted alter ego, Mr. Tinker. Unlike other creations built for destruction, she saw him as a father figure—which made it all the more heartbreaking when Eggman’s true persona resurfaced, leaving her to grapple with the loss of the father she once knew. On top of that, Sonic 3’s post-credit scene teased Metal Sonic, adding another compelling reason to introduce Bell. In Sonic Issue #50, she played a key role in Metal Sonic’s story, further cementing why her inclusion in Sonic 4 would make perfect sense.
