"In the Cage of Despair" is the fifth song on my album Madness. It's a slow, instrumental hard rock song... You could almost say this song shows slight hints of doom metal.

The sound of the guitar solos is reminiscent of a Teremin and could have come from a horror film from the 60s or 70s. The guitar solos are only partially improvised; there are parts that I wrote in advance.

During the production of the song, I was inspired by Black Sabbath, Mastodon, and Deep Purple.
