Paul Lorin Kantner is an American rock musician, best known as the co-founder and guitarist of the bands Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship.
Early life: Born on March 17, 1941 in San Francisco. As a child, he was fascinated by science fiction and music, which influenced his work.

Musical career:
Jefferson Airplane: Founded the band in 1965, which became iconic during the counterculture period of the 1960s.
Jefferson Starship: In the 1970s, he formed this band, which was an extension of Jefferson Airplane, and continued to work with them until 1984.
He later reformed Jefferson Starship and performed with them until his death in 2016.
His work included experiments with political and fantasy themes.

Kantner was a political anarchist and advocated for the legalization of marijuana.
He had three children: two sons and a daughter, China Kantner, who became an actress and MTV host.

Awards: In 1996, Kantner was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Jefferson Airplane.

Death: Died on January 28, 2016, at the age of 74, due to heart problems and septic shock.
