Along with her husband. She had forgotten what happiness feels like because she spent all her time crying. When she saw a curious man filming her and her sign, she mistook him for her son.
Her son would be about the same age as the man now if he was actually their lost son. But he isn't. He already has two parents at home. The woman took him back home and cooked him food. She was so happy to be able to finally cook her son a meal.
He played along and she showed him countless belongings she had saved for her son's return. From his old back pack, half finished snacks, used toothbrush, and favourite pant.
She took him to where her son first went missing. Someone had pretended to be his father and picked him up from kindergarten. He was never seen again. They searched everywhere for him. Often at crowded train stations and even appeared on TV. However, there was no sign of him.
But she was once a beautiful young girl full of hope. She loved to smile but it's been a long time since she smiled. They know that the man wasn't really their son but his presence makes them feel like that hole in their hearts can be filled somewhat. They love having him around and treat him like their own son.
After learning about this, the man's real parents actually went and help them search for the missing boy. They stood at the train station together.
Their son may never come home but at least they can live a bit easier with the man around. They are undergoing a pain that only parents understand. Perhaps, this is the way they can cope best.
