The Go-Go's perform "The Whole World Lost Its Head" Live on Letterman which aired in 1994. Live on Letterman was an online concert series webcast by CBS. The concerts were filmed live in the Ed Sullivan Theater, the home of Late Show with David Letterman, and streamed on the CBS website.

"The Whole World Lost Its Head" was released in November 1994 on I.R.S records, as one of three new songs included on their two-disc retrospective, Return to the Valley of The Go-Go's (1994). The single rose to number eight on the US Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 but became the band's first and only top-40 hit in the UK, peaking at number 29.
