"I was trying to make a better book than Ringworld", says author Larry Niven of his follow-up to sci-fi smash hit, Ringworld. For Niven, Ringworld didn't have enough of the occupants of the structure, he says. "I wanted to elaborate on that. Ringworld is a grand intellectual toy, as I found it, and as a lot of readers did too. You can play with it, elaborate, work out [my] mistakes", says Niven.
