Liupan Mountain is one of the youngest mountain ranges in China. It was formed by the joint action of the Himalayan Orogeny and the Blue Mountain Movement . It is a long and narrow mountain range with a north-south direction. At the end of the Himalayan cutting movement about 8.5 million years ago, the Himalayas and the Gangdise Mountains uplifted strongly, the Haiyuan-Tongxin-Liupanshan arc structure area on the northeastern edge of the plateau experienced strong tectonic resurrection and deformation, and the Qilian Mountains took the third place. The series of stratigraphic folds and the strong thrusting and napping effect reflect the gradual northward expansion of the plateau uplift effect.
