Mayor Duggan and city officials will kick off the $6 million transformation of Roosevelt Park in front of Michigan Central redevelopment, a 30-acre walkable community in development by Michigan Central Innovation District LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. Joshua Sirefman, its CEO, will also help the City break ground. Renovation will also include the removal of the existing roadway that for years has split the park in half.

When completed in Spring 2023, the currently 9.5-acre park will grow to 13 acres. It will also include a promenade connecting Michigan Avenue to The Station, a new pedestrian gateway entrance at Michigan Avenue, key neighborhood entryways and walkways, plaza spaces, event lawns, benches and tables for seating and landscaping.

WHO:
Mayor Mike Duggan
Joshua Sirefman, CEO, Michigan Central
Brad Dick, Group Executive, Services and Infrastructure, City of Detroit
Raymond Lozano, Mexicantown Community Development Corporation
Antoine Bryant, Director, Planning & Development, City of Detroit
Senator Stephanie Chang
State Rep. Tyrone Carter
