ALBUM NOTES:

I create these songs by myself in my home studio. My wife, Mrs. SaxLove, hears them as they develop and gives me vital feedback and encouragement. It's a solitary process, though, but I love it. Some tracks pop right out fully formed; some take weeks, even months, to develop and I end up hearing them all many hundreds, if not thousands, of times.

Because we're living through a global pandemic right now, and because of the need to socially distance and stay isolated, I've had unlimited time to sculpt these tracks to the point where every one of them pleases me to no end - I experience great joy when I listen to them. I'm listening to them as I write this!

A couple of things make this album different than any of my other albums. First, I have a new saxophone in my life, a beautiful Cannonball Big Bell Stone Series Straight Soprano Saxophone (the Raven model with the Iced Black-Nickel Body and Polished Black-Nickel Keys) as seen here: . I love this horn!

Second, I have a new software tool that I've been using called Band-In-A-Box (), which, basically, is a program intended to help musicians play gigs (or, in my case, compose songs). With BAIB you select a musical style and a tempo, you type in chord changes and hit play, and the program creates the song for you. BAIB has been around for a long time and the program is very refined. So refined, in fact, that many of the styles include performances recorded by real musicians, many of which are world-class and famous musicians. There are a bunch of smooth jazz style variations, and there are performances available from famous smooth jazz artists like these:

Jeff Lorber - piano (Peter White, Rick Braun, Richard Elliot)
Dwight Sills - guitars (Kirk Whalum, Boney James, Rick Braun)
Vernon Barbary - bass (Gerald Albright, Kim Waters, Warren Hill)
Franklin "Third" Richardson - drums (Euge Groove, Eric Darius, Warren Hill)

I used BAIB on six of the tracks on this album: In Your Love, Breezin' Easy (Head's In A Cloud), Slip Away, Lovers From A Distance, For The Love Of You, and Your Heart, My Soul. Also, the guitar solos you hear on some of these tracks are generated from within BAIB and they sound fabulous!

The last thing I have to say about this album is that none of this music would be possible - or, at the very least, wouldn't sound nearly as good - without the input and encouragement of my wife, Roberta. She's my best friend, my true north, my cheerleader, and my most important critic. Her suggestions and feedback always make my music, and my life in general, much better. Thank you so much for all you do for me, my Darling!
