Just because something is SIMPLE doesn’t mean it’s EASY. Athleticism and Musicality aren’t the same thing. As I log more and more years as a guitarist, I’m more amazed at some player’s ability to slay me with the most open and architectural ideas.

Similarly, I continue to find value in challenging myself on the guitar by imposing certain limitations on my improvisational practice. Restricting myself to a single string, or using a just one finger, might reduce my options, but it vastly increases the challenge of saying something meaningful while improvising.
