It might sound a little different, but ribbon mics can be a great choice as a vocal mic. In this episode, I give the two things you have to be worried about when using a ribbon mic, and ultimately these two things can be limiting factors in when you can use a ribbon for vocals. We use a AEA N22 to demonstrate the advantage of using a ribbon mic that can record up close and how it affects the decisions we can make when we mix.
