The other day, I was watching the Love is Blind UK edition on Netflix. Most of the dudes had facial hair, and three were rocking it properly. Another dude was super patchy but kept it short and rocked his stash. But this other dude, Bobby, had the most messed-up beard I've ever seen. His harsh line under his jaw got me thinking about you because I don't want your beard to be horrible. That said, I want to present the world's worst beard fails and how to fix them. Fix that f^cked up beard asap -- here's how:


Improper edging or shaving of the underside. Check out my demonstration in the video. Don't chop it closer to the jawbone or carve it out underneath. Your jaw will look weak, and you appear to have a double chin.


Neck beards. These are disgusting. You need to shave under your neck, or you will look like a wild man who doesn't understand that the look is dirty. Find your boundaries.


Bushy, round beards. A beard that is big, full, and bold sucks because it makes your face look fat. You need to make sure you're tapering down the sides. A poofy beard that's the same length on the chin as on the cheeks is a huge fail. Groom and train it, and make sure it's lying flat and not puffed out. When it pops out, your face looks fat and round. Make sure it's tapered shorter on the sides and longer on the chin area. This will help draw an eye down, making your chin look stronger.


Hard lines. A beard that suddenly stops bald at a hard line is horrible. You shouldn't go from beard to bald abruptly; you must ensure you fade and taper it. Have a transition from the hair on your head to the hair on your face. Don't chop off the beard at any specific point, even if it's a skin fade. You need a skin-to-beard fade, which takes a little time and practice. Check out my instructions in the video.


Thin, patchy stragglers. If you've grown out your beard to see what you're working with and then discover it's thin and see-through, it's not good.  Ensure you don't have a straggly, patchy, long mess on your face. Hair follicle density varies from person to person; use what you have to work with, whether it's a mustache, soul patch, or otherwise. You can also keep it short stubble, which looks better than straggly and thin facial hair. Embrace what you have; the good news is that your facial hair can start filling in more as you age.


Big and stinky. This is what a beard gets completely out of hand and looks gross. Even if you're super hygienic, big beards can make you look dirty, like you haven't taken care of yourself. A big, stinky beard equals a stinky big manbush. You need to take care of your beard. If you want to grow it out, keep it trimmed, edged, and maintained. You need to brush and hydrate it regularly. Also, trimming your mustache is imperative because nobody wants to make out with mustache hair.
