In March 2025, 30-year-old special ed teacher and soccer coach Christina Formella was arrested in Downers Grove, Illinois, after a mother found explicit messages between Formella and her 15-year-old son while setting up his new phone.Authorities say the relationship began during tutoring sessions and led to a sexual encounter in a classroom before school in December 2023. Police also discovered a “memoir” in Formella’s Notes app where she allegedly called the teen “disgusting” and accused him of cheating.
Formella denies all allegations, claiming the student fabricated the messages and that any references in her notes were about her husband. She has pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of criminal sexual assault.
