Many beginner surfers don’t take a look back at the wave and mistime their paddling. You simply cannot learn from your mistakes if you don’t look behind and see what actually happened!
When you are practising learning to catch unbroken waves on your own, it is expected you will fail very often. It’s normal to paddle into “Stage C” and wipe out because the wave breaks too fast. Or to paddle into “Stage A” and not be able to catch it because it’s not steep enough.
Ensure to take glances over your shoulds to know if you need to paddle more or less depending on the shape of the wave.
Catching unbroken waves comes with experience and takes time and you need to make these mistakes to eventually be successful in catching most of the waves you paddle for.
