Freedom beach is definitely one of the most beautiful and hidden beaches in Phuket. This beach is the “Pearl of Phuket” and is surrounded by a tropical jungle with high coconut trees. In fact, it is tucked in an untouched cove even it is not far from Patong beach. Just behind the corner, there is the pristine Karon Noi Beach home of Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort.
The water in high season assumes a crystal turquoise colour, unique on the whole island. With soft white sand, it seems to be in the Maldives in Phuket!
This very calm and quiet beach is nestled in a hidden bay, far from the street. It seems incredible that such a perfect, beautiful beach exists so close to Patong beach, but it’s true!
The beach is not supervised so be careful and please KEEP THE BEACH CLEAN!
For the moment there is no beach loungers and umbrellas area. Unfortunately, they have been removed for several reasons. We hope to have them back soon!
You can relax under the high palm trees or stay under the sun. It is recommended to use protective sunscreens to avoid sunburn. Bring a beach towel or mat to lay on or to keep your belongings. As I said before there are no beach loungers and umbrellas.
If you love snorkelling, you should bring a mask and fins. In fact, at the end of the beach, you can see the fantastic seabed with many types of tropical fish. In high season, the water is always hot and incredibly crystal clear.
There are two ways to reach this beautiful and hidden beach: by sea or by land.
By sea, it is possible to reach Freedom beach by renting a small local “long tail boat” from Patong, Karon and Kata beach. Taxi boat rides only during high season because the sea is calm. This is the shortest way. Surprisingly is less tiring and most beautiful because you can see the Phuket coast form a new angle. Naturally, you will appreciate the sea breeze along the way too. The cost will change depending on where you leave, and it includes going and returning. Before going on the boat, please remember to negotiate the price. Especially if you are so many, people.
It is hard to reach it by land, but at the same time, it can be fun too because you have to walk on a small path through the jungle. Halfway, you can start to see the beach and hear the waves break on the shoreline. I bet at this moment your adrenaline will start going up. Reached the beach sweaty, you will definitely jump in the crystal, and warm water of the ocean, and you will do it!
At the end of the day, you have to return following the same path which can be exhausting. You will have to walk uphill through the jungle with a 30 degrees incline reaching the gate completely wet.
I prefer going by land because I like to take photos of the beach and at the colourful sunsets. This is a charming Freedom beach and for sure you will love it!
