"On A Slow Boat To China" (on Fats' album it's listed without "On A") was first recorded by Benny Goodman and His Orchestra. He put it on vinyl on October 23, 1947 and was released on Capitol 15208. The biggest hit was by Kay Kyser & His Orchestra, with vocals by Harry Babbitt and Gloria Wood. (#2 in 1948)
