Thanks guys. Don't know if you heard?
It is with deep sadness I report to you all that on the afternoon May 17th. in Sofia Bulgaria, Martin left the stage. Strokes over past years had stopped him from playing, which was desperately sad. By this day his heart had enough. We have lost a great soul and one of the finest mandolin players I ever heard. Our thoughts are with Kali and his family.

First up on the RCA Records imprint NEON in 1971. Their second album, the original five piece band added Polly Bolton on vocals and produced one of those stunning pieces of music that on first hearing is a cut above the rest.

Naming the band after Don Calhoun's American comic novel "Dando Shaft" the original line-up formed in Coventry in 1969. After one LP these five talented folk musicians added Polly Bolton (vocals and piano) in late 1970. They moved south and set up in Ealing, West London. This album was released in May 1971 and is really a fine example of progressive folk music of that time. The band survived a short while after this but as was so often the case they eventually split. They still continued to make music, Polly Bolton working with Bert Jansch.

Kevin Dempsey - vocals, acoustic guitar
Martin Jenkins - vocals, guitar, mandolin, fiddle
Ted Kay - percussion, tabla
Roger Bullen - bass
David Cooper - vocals, guitar
Polly Bolton - vocals, piano

A very deserving reissue in Japan on CD a while ago.
