A special air quality statement remains in effect today as smoke leads to “poor air quality and reduced visibility,” Environment Canada says.
“Smoke from forest fires is expected to continue to affect much of southern Ontario this morning. The wildfire smoke may persist through today and possibly Wednesday,” the advisory warned.
“Air quality and visibility due to wildfire smoke can fluctuate over short distances and can vary considerably from hour to hour. As smoke levels increase, health risks increase. Limit time outdoors.”
According to Swiss air quality tracker IQAir, Toronto’s air quality is among the worst in the world this morning, ranking sixth globally.
