This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS luxury electric car. The EQS is extremely aerodynamic, Mercedes-Benz says, it has the lowest drag coefficient of any vehicle to maximize range. Although, the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan and Lucid Air are all very close. The exterior is smooth and sleek with flushed door handles, a low hood, short overhangs, slim LED headlights and taillights, a light bar in the rear and 350 sensors around the sedan. This EV has two electric motors producing 516 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque with a 107.8 kWh battery and 547 km/340 miles of EV range. Standard AWD. It goes 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds. In the US, there is a RWD option, the 450+ with a single electric motor, 329 horsepower and 350 miles of EV range. This EV is equipped with paddle shifters, which allows the driver to control the regenerative braking with 3 different levels, the strongest level slows the vehicle but it doesn’t come to a complete stop. With a 240-volt outlet, the EQS can charge from 10-100% in 11 hours and 25 minutes and with a DC Fast Charger, it can go from 10 to 80% in just 31 minutes. All Mercedes-Benz built on the EQ platform will enjoy a digitally integrated, fast and convenient charging experience in a partnership with various charging providers. Use the Mercedes Me Connect App, which is available on Google play and the App store to simplify the process of finding, using and paying for charging stations. Each EQS purchased in Canada includes, 3 years worth of Mercedes Me Charge and in the US, EQS owners get free unlimited 30 minutes charging sessions for 2 years at Electrify America stations. The EQS starts at $144,200 CAD/$119,110 USD.When I got into the EQS for the first time, all I said was wow! The Neva grey and blue Nappa leather interior with the pinstripe open pore walnut wood trim is stunning and the technology, mind blowing. The 56” Hyperscreen takes up the entire front of the cabin and it is broken down into three screens, a 12.3” digital driver display, a 17.7” centre touchscreen and the passenger gets a 12.3” touchscreen that basically does everything the middle screen does. Climate controls are at the bottom of the screen, they are always there so you don’t have to go into the screen to adjust the temperature. A button for the heated/ventialted seats are on the door and you can program the heated steering wheel to go on when you put on your heated seats. There is a volume control at the centre console as well as on the steering wheel. The EQS has an available triple stage filtration system with a HEPA filter for $600 CAD/$450 USD. It checks the air quality outside and inside of the car to make the interior as pure as possible. This is located under the front hood, which can’t be opened. Where do you put your windshield washer fluid? There is a panel on the driver’s side of the vehicle that opens for your washer fluid. If you are interested in the EQS having a little bit of sound, there are two sound options, Vivid Flux, which is quite unique and Silver Waves, the sound of a gas engine. I prefer the quietness the EQS offers and opted out of the sound. Instead I enjoyed my music on the Burmester 3D surround system, the sound is absolutely incredible, so clear and crisp. The EQS has two electric motors producing 516 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque with a 107.8 kWh battery and 547 km/340 miles of EV range. Standard AWD. It has a starting price of $144,200 CAD/$119,110 USD.
