In 1966, Britain was weighing the withdrawal of its troops from West Germany, raising the question of who should bear the cost of maintaining NATO forces on the continent. With the Cold War at its height and tensions between East and West ever present, the possible pull-out raised serious concerns about the security of West Germany and the strength of the Western alliance.
Sandy Gall reported for ITN on the possible witdrawal, interviewing Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO General Lyman Lemnitzer at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE).

'Reporting 66' was a series of documentary reports from around the world, produced by ITN News during 1966.
