This evening of conversation explored the connections between the Southern African Region and Detroit, specifically highlighting the cultural identity of the Detroit Afrikan. This conversation included local thought from creative leaders in the Detroit Afrikan movement Marsha Music, Bryce Detroit, and Olayami Dabls. Together they spoke about the cultural, artistic, and historical connections between the Southern African region and Detroit. This conversation was moderated by co-curator of Crossing Night: Regional Identities x Global Context, Ford Curatorial Fellow Jova Lynne.
