The largest lake in Finland is Lake Saimaa, covering around 4,400 square kilometres (1,700 square miles). It’s located in southeastern Finland, mainly within the South Karelia and Southern Savonia regions. Known for its maze-like network of islands and waterways, it’s a major hub for boating, fishing, and spotting the rare Saimaa ringed seal, one of the world’s most endangered seals.
