Even before he took over his position as chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Simon Rattle began a cycle of Mahler's symphonies in November 2021 with the Ninth (BR-KLASSIK 900205). The Sixth (BR-KLASSIK 900217) followed in September 2023 and now he is taking on the seventh symphony of the important late romantic symphonyist. This cycle marks the beginning of a new chapter in Mahler interpretation, because with Rattle there is an equally ardent Mahler admirer at the head of the orchestra, as were his predecessors Jansons, Maazel and Kubelík.

Quote here of the Berlin Phiharmonic Orchestra Concert with Simon Rattle, in relation with the BRSO recording issue, its publishing and Altea Media Review.
