The two main contenders for WCT6 Knight of Flight were undoubtedly Benjamin Garcia and Ky Baldwin and it was virtually impossible to separate them. After a lot of deliberation, we went with Benjamin for a couple reasons. Firstly, he scored (slightly) more Evasions than Ky. Evasions are harder to come-by than successful tags. Generally, the Evasion ratio is around 20-25% so, in theory, 1x Evasion is worth 4-5 successful tags. Secondly, Benjamin seemed to be involved in more crucial chases when his team (Kimeo) were under pressure. He was the Sudden Death Evader for their victory over Urban Corp Mamba; he scored the two opening points against ParkourMan; when Kimeo trailed 1-0 against Fata Morgana Benjamin scored the equaliser, and on chase 15, when the score was 2-2 with Kimeo on their first match-point, Benjamin scored the winning Evasion that put them through to the final.
On the other hand, when Ky scored his Evasions against Eco Threads, Ugen and Parkour 59, Hollywood Freerunners were already ahead so there was no pressure for him to score. The big caveat to this, of course, is that Ky scored the winning Evasion in their 1-0 defeat of Kimeo in the final.
Either way, both athletes did incredibly well and looking forward to seeing how the develop in the WCT7 season. Let us know if you think we made the right decision in the comments we’ll be back soon with the WCT6 Best Chase Competition. Keep Chasing and Don’t get Caught!!
