President Donald Trump’s budget office on Wednesday altered an order freezing spending on federal grants, according the Associated Press (AP). The order from the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) sparked uncertainty for states, schools and organizations that utilize the funding. The Associated Press reports the OMB pulled the order Wednesday in a two sentence notice to agencies and departments.
Shortly after the announcement, Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary wrote on Twitter/X that she wanted to clarify: "This is NOT a rescission of the federal funding freeze. It is simply a rescission of the OMB memo. Why? To end any confusion created by the court's injunction. The President's EO's on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented."
