The first stage of production is sourcing raw materials: fruits and vegetables mainly come from Poland, while exotic ones—naturally—from abroad. They arrive at the plant in refrigerated trucks and are then stored in freezers at temperatures as low as minus 25 degrees Celsius.

The Elena facility also has a second automatic packing machine designed for small portions intended for the retail market. The freeze-drying process for one batch of product takes between 12 and even up to 40 hours, depending on the type of product in the machine.

Freeze-dried products are manually packed into plastic bags with a capacity of 10, 12, or 15 kilograms or using a weight-packing machine. The weight-packing machine automates the entire process.

Freeze-dried products are also used to create dietary supplements. Elena produces, among others, capsules containing collagen, bio-chokeberry, or celery.

The shelf life of freeze-dried products is on average 12 months, but they can usually be stored for many years. Thanks to technology that traveled from space back to Earth!
