When you start searching for something in Windows search, you don't see any letters typing there. Even at the Windows settings, you would face a similar issue when you try to find something. To fix Can't type in Windows 10 search bar problem, you have to do these steps in order.
First of all, go to the Windows start button then right click then choose 'Windows PowerShell (Admin)'
You have to run few couple of instructions for rebuilding the index. After you enter the commands, try to search for something in Windows 10 search bar. If it didn't help to restore the search bar in Windows 10. Try the next method
Now open the 'Task Manager' by right-clicking at the taskbar.
Now choose File then 'Run New Task' then check 'Create this task with administrative privileges' and then type 'PowerShell' then OK to run the task.
This will get you the PowerShell with admin rights. Now paste the command then hit enter.
After doing close everything and finally open the Run dialogue box by pressing 'Windows + R' keys together and then type the following.
C:\Windows\System32\ctfmon.exe and choose OK
This basically gets you the language bar to the system tray that makes the Windows 10 search bar functional. In case if you still can't type in Windows 10 search bar after the reboot, you need to run the same command again (01:58) by opening the Run dialogue box.
