What a fun flashback. A jazz piano student/fellow teacher sent me this excerpt. It’s from a 2016 concert at a music teaching conference in San Diego in which I invited two attendees to join me. The mutual support (sometimes soloist, sometimes accompanist), communication (when and how to switch roles), and playfulness all come through.
