Here is a comprehensive chase of the UP LOB34 Crestmore & Western Local from Ontario, through Pedley and the Jurupa Valley to the end of the line in Crestmore, CA.

This job rarely makes the run up the branch these days, so seeing the scenic railroad be utilized was quite the treat.

We start off at Ventura Foods in Ontario where the train is switching out tank cars, following it as it travels east on the Los Angeles Sub, then down the Pedley Wye onto the Crestmore Industrial Lead, ascending the steep, scenic grade to the top of the hill into Crestmore. Performing industrial switching work at the two lumber plants located at the top of the line in Crestmore, the train soon makes its return down the bottom of the lead. With the crew running low on hours of service, the train is tied down at Pedley, unable to complete its trip to Mira Loma.

This local runs quite a long distance and traverses many steep grades, allowing for many scenic opportunities to see this train throughout its work. A pair of SD70Ms, one of which has a unique notched nose, serve as power for this local. Thanks for watching!
