Three friends were excited about exploring a cave, something they had been looking forward to all summer. They expected a fun and mysterious adventure, but what happened was something they could never forget. William Coughlin, 27, was an environmentalist and loved camping. He spent most of his time outdoors with his friends. His mom, Marge, mentioned that William had a special love for wild animals. He worked for the Federal Environmental Protection Agency because he wanted to protect the environment. Later, William got into caving when a friend showed him a small cave near his home. Their first few cave trips were easy and boosted their confidence to try more challenging caves. William and his friends, James and Kevin, decided to explore a cave in Kentucky called Buzzard Roost Cave, which seemed very exciting in the brochure.
