This once glorious Chateau had a brief but fleeting life. It was abandoned very early in the twentieth century and continued to decline over the next 120 years.

This Château commissioned by a very wealthy landowner and local mayor. Although he married twice, both wives died very young. His second wife a Parisian, rarely visited the countryside and died just 23. His only heir was his brother who nothing known as is suspected to have never visited the Chateau.

After such a tragic beginning the brother left the Château to decay and be looted. During the Second World War it was said to have been occupied by the Germans. Anything of worth remaining was looted, leaving just a shell.

Soon after the war, it fell into further decline, until it was sold off for it's architectural features and stripped of chimneys, woodwork and masonry.

With little worth left, in 1996 it was sold purely for the surrounding land. The land is now agricultural, meaning that this building is of little interest to restorers as there is no access. With French law, farmers now have legal rights to all the surrounding land and regaining it would be very hard.

This once palatial Château had only a 30 year occupation.
