Today we will look into the Top 5 Tips to increase flowering in plants like hibiscus or rose. Bloom Booster garden tips, secrets and hacks on how to increase flowering in plants and also look into some common reasons why your plants do not bloom. Bone in gardening is a certain hack that can boost flowering.

Firstly I shall list out the common reasons why your plant does not bloom:
1. Age of the Plant: If your plant is too young and especially grown from seeds. It might take 2 or 3 years to start flowering depending on the type of your plant. This problem is solved by grafting or getting flowering or fruiting plants cloned by cuttings. You can watch my video on What is Grafting – explained in detail.
2. Environmental Factors like – not enough sunlight, temperature and humidity are important factors – change your plant location to receive atleast 6 to 8 hours sunlight.
3. Poor Pollination: If you are driving away bees and butterflies in your garden – you are inhibiting pollination and flowering. Also make sure you use organic pesticides as much as possible in your garden – not to kill or drive away those useful pollinating insects.
4. Pruning: If not pruned correctly or at the appropriate time, flowering can significantly be reduced. Best time to prune is late winter or early spring.
5. Last but not the least - the Nutritional Deficiencies in Plants:

Phosphorus is the element most responsible for stimulating strong budding and fruit and flower development. Fertilizers specifically formulated for bud and bloom development are often higher in phosphorus than the other two primary nutrients. One such Fertlizer I use is the Organic Steamed Bone Meal with the NPK ratio of 3, 15 and 0 respectively – for beginners NPK is Nitrogen Phosphorous and Potassium. NPK can have 20 20 20 or 12 12 12 ratios for general purpose fertilizer requirements.

Nitrogen gives green lush growth to your plant, but not blooming. You can remove excess Nitrogen if you have already added to your plant, especially the Cow dung or its powder.
So I recommend the following General Tips and hacks on nourishing your plants for blooming:

1. Bone Meal (What is use is purchased online – the link is given in description). The ratio is NPK 13, 15 and zero. I use 1 tablespoon in a 12 inch pot every six months. Best is to add into the soil and mix, especially in deeper areas when you are repotting your plant.
