This video discusses the life and works of the Spanish playwright of the Golden Age of Spanish theater, Gabriel Tellez (1583–1648), known as Tirso de Molina. We explore the plot and theological meanings of his play "Damned for Despair," which deals with the issues of free will, divine predestination, and theodicy (a video clip from my lecture in the course AFTERLIFE, University of the Arts, Philadelphia, Summer 2020).
