Velvet lit the match. Big Smoke stoked the fire. But it was Sir Leather Luv who let it burn.
This session wasn’t scheduled — DJ Butter Brown accidentally left the reel-to-reel spinning after tracking a cornbread jingle. Sir Leather Luv walked in looking for his car keys and found the groove humming in the walls. He plugged in. No engineer. No mic check. Just bass. “I only need the funk to hear me,” he said. What followed was 8 hours of unscripted solos, off-mic ad-libs, and an organ vamp so dirty the janitor refused to clean it. We almost cut the tape… but it hissed like it had secrets. So we aired it. Velvet lit the spark. Big Smoke brought the fire. Sir Leather Luv? He left the ashes smoldering.
