The Fula flute is from West Africa in the regions of Guinea and Mali. It likely originates from the Fula or Peuhl people. This one is tuned to a Western scale of Ab. These Flutes are traditionally tuned to equidistant scales giving them a unique sound. These Flutes have been around for many years however you may be more recently acquainted with their sound from the Black Panther movie. The Fula flute is featured in "Killmonger's theme.

This flute was handcrafted by Dave Kobrenski. I highly recommend him. He had one expertly packed and swiftly shipped within days of my order. True class act.
Another great company is L'ecole Flutes. They use proceeds from their flutes to fund a beautiful charity work they are involved in. The owners/builders teach children in Guinea. "...our students receive courses in basic literacy (including French, arithmetic, sciences, etc.), singing, music theory, instruments (including Malinke flute, Peul flute, ngoni, percussion and kora), theater, dance, body language and boxing. A few of them live on the premises along with supervisors and twice a day meals are prepared and served. They participate enthusiastically in class, raising their hands, volunteering to come to the blackboard, to perform, etc., this is a great group that would be the envy of many teachers back home." -from www.fulaflute.net
What a beautiful ministry. Many of these children lived in the streets and were not being educated. What groups like L'Ecole flute are doing makes my heart rejoice.
