On 28 December 1961, Tom St John Barry travelled along the western side of the frontier which divided Germany into the Federal Republic and Democratic Republic. Accompanied by the Federal Border Guard, the ITN team went from the point where Czechoslovakia and East and West Germany meet to the Baltic coast, taking in sightings of the death strip and the sparsely populated control zone as they went.

'Roving Reports' was a series of documentary reports from around the world, produced by ITN News and broadcast between 1957 and 1964.
