Nigeria has taken a significant step toward continental trade integration by officially submitting its ECOWAS Schedule of Tariff Offers for trade in goods under the African Continental Free Trade Area (Afcfta). The submission was made just before the 16th AfCFTA Council of Ministers Meeting on Trade, scheduled for April 15 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

This move establishes a framework for applying zero tariffs to 90% of tariff lines, marking a significant shift in Nigeria’s trade policy to increase the competitiveness and accessibility of Nigerian products across African markets.

The development reflects Nigeria's commitment to AfCFTA goals and positions the country to play a leading role in shaping the future of intra-African trade.
