Kashif (real name: Michael Jones) is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer from Brooklyn, New York. He started out as a keyboardist in the renowned funk band B.T. Express back in the late 1970s. Kashif helped to revolutionize R&B music through the use of synthesizer technology, as the 1980s were a time when R&B artists were only beginning to experiment with synthesizers and other electronic instruments in their music. Kashif released seven albums between 1983 and 2004. He a well-in-demand producer, and has also worked with various artists as well as singing background vocals and was a featured singer in some duets.
His lists of hit singles include: "I Just Gotta Have You (Lover Turn Me On)," "Stone Love," "Help Yourself to My Love," and "Say Something Love, Baby Don't Break Your Baby's Heart, and Love Changes(duet with Melis'sa Morgan).
Today, Kashif lives in California and is CEO of Brooklyn Boy Entertainment where he is guiding the next generation of aspiring musical artists via his best-selling books, educational courses and software programs. In 2005, he established the iCare Foundation to raise awareness and funds for local foster care agencies and to help change the public perception of foster care, as he himself was a foster child himself.
