-- ENG -- A big thank you first of all for this rare interview to Anders Odden, co-founder of the extreme metal band (avant-garde death/black/thrash metal, one could call it) CADAVER, but also member of ORDER, and former live session musician for CELTIC FROST (2006) and SATYRICON (2009-2011) !!! Because it was impossible to ignore this cult band that is CADAVER on the occasion of the release of unreleased material grouped under the name Hymns Of Misanthropy (@Listenablerecs). This unreleased album was recorded in the early 1990's between the sessions of the album Hallucinating Anxiety (Necrosis Records-1990) and ... In Pains (Earache Records-1992), at the very beginning of the grunge rock wave and death metal ascension at the same time. And clearly, Hymns Of Misanthropy already proves to be cult in different aspects : by its historical context; its artistic originality of the time (1991!) mixing thrash, black, and death metal, even grindcore and progressive extreme metal ; and quite simply also for its original character. As a reminder, CADAVER was formed in 1988 near Råde/Fredrikstad, Østfold in Norway. It was one of the first extreme metal bands in Norway, while the first wave of black metal was ending (BATHORY, HELLHAMMER, MAYHEM...) which was followed by a second wave (DARKTHRONE after his musical change from death metal to black metal, BURZUM, SATYRICON, GORGOROTH, EMPEROR, ENSLAVED, etc.). The rest is history, as we were able to discuss with the friendly Anders Odden, without being constantly in nostalgia, because the musician continues to compose and write with his different projects : ORDER, CADAVER whose next album is already in the pipeline for each one !

-- FR -- Un grand merci tout d'abord pour cet entretien rare à Anders Odden, co-fondateur du groupe de metal extrême (death/black/thrash metal avant-gardiste, pourrait-on qualifier) CADAVER, mais aussi membre d'ORDER, et ancien musicien live de session pour CELTIC FROST (2006-2007) et SATYRICON (2009-2011). Car il était impossible de passer outre ce groupe culte qu'est CADAVER à l'occasion de la publication de matériels inédits regroupés sous le nom de Hymns Of Misanthropy (Listenable Records). Cet album inédit donc fut enregistré au début des années 1990 entre les sessions de l'album Hallucinating Anxiety (Necrosis Records-1990) et ... In Pains (Earache Records-1992), en plein début de la vague rock grunge. Clairement Hymns Of Misanthropy s'avère déjà culte de par différents aspects : par son contexte historique ; son originalité artistique de l'époque (1991 !) mêlant thrash, black, et death metal, voire grindcore et metal extrême progressif ; et tout bonnement aussi pour son caractère inédit. Pour rappel, CADAVER fut formé en 1988 du côté de Råde/Fredrikstad, Østfold en Norvège. Ce fut l'une des premières formations de metal extrême en Norvège, alors que la 1ère vague black metal s'achèvait (BATHORY, MAYHEM...) à laquelle allait succéder une seconde vague (DARKTHRONE, BURZUM, SATYRICON, GORGOROTH, EMPEROR, ENSLAVED, etc.). Le reste appartient à l'histoire, comme nous avons pu l'évoquer avec Anders Odden, sans pour autant être constamment dans la nostalgie, car il continue de composer et écrire avec ses différents projets : ORDER, CADAVER dont un prochain album pour chacun des 2 est déjà dans les cartons !
